Mission Statement

As a unit of Connecticut’s flagship state university, our mission is to provide the highest quality undergraduate and graduate education in Mechanical Engineering. Specific goals to accomplish our mission are:

    1. To provide comprehensive programs in Mechanical Engineering at the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels of high quality and relevance to our society.
    2. To advance the state of knowledge in Mechanical Engineering through scholarly research and to disseminate this knowledge nationally and internationally through graduate training, publications, and interactions with industry and government.
    3. To attract the best and brightest talent to our program by maintaining high educational standards and encouraging participation from underrepresented groups.
